What a pleasure it was to meet and great Kevin Godbee at our pipe club meeting on June 4th. The Boca Raton Pipe Guild hosted a special Tuesday club meeting(we usually meet on Thursdays) in order for Kevin to b e able to drive down. It was whirl wind of a visit for him... Drove down from Tampa on Tuesday, met with us Tuesday evening and drove back next day ,Wednesday. You go Kevin!
Not only is Kevin very simpatico, but he's wealth of knowledge. About the pipe industry, pipe smoking trends and also about pipe making and pipe tobacco blending.
He visits factories, pipe carvers, smoke shops and so on... It has turned the online magazine into his work, if one can call it such... He seems to be having a lot of fun. Kevin spoke of how pipe smoking is developing a new, younger following. Starting in college, the new pipe smokers have been slowly flocking to Benningtons within the last 3 or 4 years. As we speak to them, we see that they are inspired by uncles, grandfathers or other relatives and friends.
Kevin spoke of how the magazine's public has increased steadily over the years and how it has been serving it's readers.
